The new Sharp AR-5316 digital copier was just shiped to dealers nation wide. This new copier offers some nice advantages over its predecessor the Sharp AR-M162.

The Sharp AR-5316 has eliminated the three cartridge system in favor of a 2 cartridge system. This allows for easy removal and replacement of the consumables. However, there is one drawback. the Sharp AR-5316 has a much higher cost per copy than the previous model.

While the Sharp AR-5316 is one of the least expensive 11x17 copiers on the market, Sharp only allows for a few options for this unit. An Automatic Document Feeder, External Print Server, and a Cabinet Stand. There is no option for an additional paper drawer, so the machine is limited to a 350 sheet paper capacity.

In the middle of November Sharp will ship the Sharp AR-5320. The Sharp AR-5320 is similar to the AR-5316. The Sharp AR-5320 will print at speeds of 20 pages per minute instead of 16 pages per minute and will also duplex (double sided copying). The Sharp AR-5320 also comes standard with 2x250 sheet paper drawers.

While these two machines do have a higher cost per copy, low volume businesses will find that this machine will be perfect most needs. The price of these two machines are several hundred dollars cheaper than its predecessor the Sharp AR-M162 and Sharp AR-M207 (Both of which are current model and have not been discontinued yet.)
